Afters : an edible collaboration with Mair Hughes for Posthumous Humus at the final A.Vermin show in Glasgow.
In keeping with the exhibition's themes of commemoration, conflagration and community, small, grey sweetmeats were created to be consumed over the course of the exhibition. All of the offerings were dusted and infused with charcoal, a traditional means of purification.
We never eat grey food. These gritty, dusty morsels were initially repellent, but intrepid visitors were rewarded with bright jeweled interiors and unexpected flavours.
